Contech were engaged by Conspec Construction to undertake FRP installation works to the three-span bridge on SH39 near Pirongia in the Waikato. Contech’s scope of work was to undertake surface preparation, pre-installation testing, supply and install SikaWrap 103C FRP fabric, and carry out post-installation QA testing.

The SikaWrap 103C is currently the only product approved for use under the NZTA Bridge Manual as it holds the CodeMark certification.

The project was challenged by periods of terrible weather, excessive vibrations from the traffic travelling over the bridge and a tight installation window.

Working closely with the Conspec team, Contech planned the work within a tight installation window so that Conspec could achieve their programme. At the end of the project, we received the following thanks from our client: Thank you for your service, effective planning & communication.
