BBR Contech initially supplied Macalloy 1030 Grade 50mm starter bars incorporated in foundations and following erection of precast walls subsequently installed, coupled and tensioned all 16 № full height Macalloy 50mm bar tendons. Bar tendons were connected with couplers at openings designed in the precast panels and tensioned from the top to 1300 kN. Tendons remain unbonded providing the ability for future load checks if required after significant seismic events....

BBR Contech was employed as a Nominated Subcontractor to support the building while the columns were being removed by hydrodemolition, jack the building to agreed levels and then reinstate the columns at the new adjusted lengths....

A post earthquake strength assessment by Aurecon identified an area of concern being the out of plane capacity of 8m high 120mm thick, non-ductile mesh reinforced concrete panels that had been damaged in the Canterbury 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. Given the central position of panels as an inter-tenancy wall,  replacement was not a practical option and the design solution was to repair any cracks and strengthen with carbon fibre strips applied both sides of the wall....
