FRP Strengthening of St Peter’s Anglican Church, Raglan

Date: August 2020

Client: Raglan Anglican Parish

Structural Engineer: RAC Consulting

Main Contractor: Gus Kendall

Subcontractor: BBR Contech

During a structural survey the church was found to be well below earthquake standards.

BBR Contech were engaged to install a simple strengthening solution using Codemark-approved SikaWrap® Hex-103 C fabric applied to the internal and external faces of the end wall of the church. Sika® FX-50 C composite ties were used to anchor the fabric strips to the wall.

Once completed, the strengthening work was covered by cement plaster and has no visual impact on the church from the inside or out, returning an important community facility to its original look.

I have been builder for over 40 years and it is refreshing to see 2 blokes willing to problem solve and do whatever is required to make the job work. They both worked as a good team and made my job a lot easier.
