23 Jan 2025 FRP Seismic Strengthening at Tauranga Girls College
Main Contractor: C3 Construction
Designer: Aurecon
Contech were engaged by C3 Construction to install Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) as part of the seismic strengthening scheme for a block at Tauranga Girls College. The project went through several design iterations as the scope was adjusted to match the project budget with Contech’s designers providing advice on detailing and optimisation of the solution.Â
Once on site the Contech team worked closely with Aurecon to navigate further design and constructability issues, ensuring cost effective adjustments were made to the original design, particularly the FRP anchoring system. Â
The Contech team installed SikaWrap 103-C and Sika FX-50 carbon fibre rope anchors to the two floors of the refurbished building in line with C3’s programme. Â
C3 Construction and Aurecon expressed gratitude for Contech’s design input, commitment to onsite safety, workmanship, and prompt QA submission at the end of the project.Â
