Allied Telesis Strengthening

Client: Allied Telesis
Main Contractor: Westmore Construction
Structural Consultant: Structex

Contech were engaged by Westmore Construction to supply and install more than 3,000m2 of Sikawrap Hex 103C carbon fibre fabric to strengthen floor diaphragms in two buildings at the Allied Telesis premises in Middleton, Christchurch.

To ensure Allied Telesis remained fully operational during the project, the work was staged so only one floor was being worked on at any given time. All recessing and grinding was done after-hours to avoid disrupting tenants, while the FRP installation was allowed during normal working hours. Building 2 was completed first, with the FRP install completed in August 2019. Building 1 followed with the FRP installation completed in February 2020.

While on site, Contech was also able to assist the main contractor with the repair of the cracks that were uncovered once the grinding was completed.
