Date: January – April 2016
Client: The Warehouse Limited
Structural Engineer: Holmes Consulting Group
Main Contractor: Naylor Love Construction
PT Subcontractor: BBR Contech
Continued population growth in the Waimakariri District and particularly Rangiora township post Canterbury Earthquakes is compelling businesses to increase trading capacity to satisfy demand. The Warehouse Rangiora is no exception and this relatively new store (built back in 2000) has extended its trading area by 1,917M2.
Naylor Love Construction was once again awarded the Main Contract and in turn secured the services of BBR Contech to provide post tension slab design and installation, mirroring the successful partnership established back in 2000 during construction of the original structure.
A 660mm wide section along the original slab edge needed to be cut away (including the existing PT anchorages) in order to accommodate the extension footprint with new armour edging installed and extension slab poured neatly up against this cut. At 150mm thick the slab is designed to accommodate 15kN racking and 2 tonne forklift loads. The floor area measures 1,917m2 includes 6.2 metric tonne of high tensile stressing cable and was installed, tensioned and grouted in 12 days.
