A new two-span, two-lane bridge constructed over State Highway One at Lookout Point Dunedin as part of the Caversham Valley Safety Improvement Project is due for completion in late 2015.
BBR Contech was engaged by Downer to carry out transverse post-tensioning of 12 single hollow core precast units. The tendons comprised 10№ BBR Cona CMI 606 (6 x 15.2mm) bonded tendons through precast units, tensioned to 1030kN then fully grouted for corrosion protection.
Transverse post-tensioning was carried out in two seperate stages to comply with traffic management constraints.
