The New Zealand Transport Agency constructed the new State Highway 1 Avalon Drive Bypass in Hamilton to reduce congestion, improve safety, and separate inter-regional state highway traffic away from internal city traffic.
Lyttelton Port’s Cashin Quay 2/3 Transition was built in the 1960’s with steel encased concrete piles and as part of the planned deck replacement engineers were required to undertake proof testing of existing pile capacity to 3,000kN.
HEB Smithbridge has secured a contract to build a bridge across the Kerikeri River to bypass the existing bridge further downstream. This will allow the existing bridge to be demolished, removing a constriction of the river and as a consequence the possibility of flooding to the historic stone store will be lessened.
