As part of rebuilding the Christchurch City’s water network SCIRT has installed a new pump station and fresh water holding tank to improve the water supply to the Hornby area.
NZ Express the largest road transport carrier of containers out of Lyttelton Port required a new distribution warehouse near the port due to their continual growth. Kennaway Drive located in the Christchurch suburb of Woolston was chosen as the ideal location for this new warehouse.
A new three level commercial office building located on the corner of Wrights Road and Matipo Street and overlooking the Addington Raceway is due for completion in mid 2013. Designed to 100% of the new earthquake code the PRESSS (PREcast Seismic Structural Systems) building design incorporates post-tensioned concrete shear walls with replaceable energy dissipators and self-centring mechanism.
The original Ilam Homestead was first built in 1858 and was rebuilt in 1910 after being burnt down. In 1950 it was sold to Canterbury College and became the home of the Rector (Vice Chancellor) of Canterbury College. When the University moved from the city to the present Ilam site the Homestead was made available as premises for the Staff Club.
