A Pratt & Whitney Air New Zealand Services venture trading as Christchurch Engine Centre opened new workshops and a logistics centre in May 2014 at Christchurch Airport, as one of the first facilities in its Geared Turbofan™ engine MRO network to provide maintenance and overhaul services for the PW1100G-JM engine.
In 1995, approval was granted to build a new five storey Civil/Mechanical building at the University of Canterbury's Ilam campus, off Creyke Road. The building was to accommodate staff and postgraduate students, along with a variety of laboratories. It was completed and occupied in 1997.
Major building manufacturer Spanbild, and New Zealand’s largest privately owned group home builder Mike Greer Homes have formed a joint venture under the “Concision” brand to manufacture pre-constructed walls, floors and roof panels from a new industrial factory development in the iZone Industrial Park at Rolleston that includes specialist German Weinmann machinery to be used to rapidly construct panels for residential homes and commercial builds around New Zealand.
Located on the former RNZAF Base Wigram and birthplace of New Zealand’s military aviation the Air Force Museum is custodian of a variety of military and aviation collections and heritage.
